Cooling Systems
01 Can I install a cooling system myself?
Self Contained systems can be installed without a licensed HVAC-R technician. All other systems must be installed by a licensed HVACR technician.
02 What are the electrical requirements?
20 amp dedicated circuit. Single appliance surge is also recommended.
03 Do I need to connect the drain line?
You must always connect your drain line. During cooling, a unit will produce condensate. The excess condensate will drain out of the unit through the drain line. It is critical that the drain line is connected at all times to ensure that there is no water damage to the wine cellar. Failure to properly install the drain line will void your warranty and can lead to mold and mildew growth.
04 Can I install a drain line behind the wall?
This is not recommended.
05 What is the best location to vent the hot exhaust air from my cooling system?
Cooling units release heat as they operate, so itβs normal for the exhaust air to reach 90β100Β°F. To ensure proper performance, the unit must have good ventilation and enough unobstructed space for this hot air to escape.
If the available area is small or enclosed, consider adding ducting to redirect the hot exhaust to a safe location.
If the exhaust air will be vented into a space that regularly stays at 78Β°F or higher, you should consider upgrading to an Extreme unit or a split system. The Extreme Series is designed to function efficiently in ambient temperatures of 95β100Β°F and can be installed through an exterior wall or in insulated spaces such as mechanical rooms or garages.
Cooling units also generate noise. If noise is a concern, a fully ducted unit, an Extreme Series model with three-speed fans, or a split system may be the best solution.
