How to choose a wine refrigerator.
1. Cabinet opening and ventilation
Measure the width, height and depth of the space, and allow room for the door to open. Ventilation and clearance needs differ by model, so check the installation section of that modelβs manual before you cut cabinetry or order.
2. Single or dual temperature zones
A single zone holds one temperature, which suits long term storage. A dual zone keeps two temperatures in one cabinet, for example reds for aging and whites closer to serving temperature. Check each zoneβs temperature range on the product page.
3. Bottle shapes and actual capacity
Rated capacity is usually counted with standard Bordeaux bottles. Burgundy, Champagne and larger bottles take more room, so a mixed collection fits fewer bottles than the rating. Leave space for the collection to grow.
4. Built-in or freestanding
A built-in model is designed to sit in cabinetry or under a counter and vents at the front. A freestanding model stands on its own with the clearances its manual specifies. Some models allow both; the product page and manual show which installation each model supports.
